Capsule Geology

The Sombrio 2 occurrence is located in the head waters of the Sombrio River, approximately 2.5 kilometres west of Central Noyse Lake.

The area is underlain by argillite, sandstone and greywacke of the Jurassic Cretaceous Leech River Complex. These have been intruded by diorite sills or dikes.

Locally, diorites host gold-bearing quartz-arsenopyrite (-pyrite) veins.

In 1983 and 1984, Unicorn Resources completed programs of geochemical sampling and minor trenching on the Sombrio 1-4 and Goldridge 1-3 claims. A 0.3 metre grab sample (84UVT13) of vein material assayed 1.675 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 14214).

In 2006 through 2008, the area was prospected as the Le Baron 100 claim.
